Miksoft Mobile AMR Converter, AMR Music Converter that I Used

Miksoft Mobile AMR Converter

Miksoft Mobile AMR Converter is PC application that can convert wave music (*.wav) to amr (*.amr) and vice versa. I'm just using it to convert wave to amr, because if converted wav from convertion amr to wav, the quality isn't good. This application was made by Miksoft. Actually, as you see the picture above, this application was made for Sony Ericsson phones, but since all S60 phones and some S40 phones had support amr file, you can use this.

Well, I use amr file for my Nokia 3200, since it can't play mp3 files, but you could use this also for the reason of space, because amr file has small size than mp3 file (there was a phone that support mp3 files but didn't have memory card). To use this application to convert a wav file to amr, you should have wav file that has property 16 bit with 8 kHz sampling frequency to convert (to have this, you could you music converter application like I used), because if you use another wav setting, you'll get a worse quality amr file.

Some phones, like my Nokia 3200, has limit for a file size, my Nokia 3200 has limit about 50 kb per files. So, if that's your case (like mine), you should cut the music for only some second that has a part you like and convert it (to do this you can use music editor like I used).

Audacity, PC Music Editor Application

Audacity

Audacity is a freeware music editor that was made on sourceforge project. With this you can cut or add effect to a music file. Actually, I'm using it for cut my music file, since I don't have a good knowledge in music file. To cut a music file using this application, just delete the unnecessary part from the part and delete it, then save the remaining one (the one that we want to keep), or you can just cut the part you want and paste it in a new project (blank).

You might think, why I suppose to do this? Well, sometimes we want it to make the music file your phone ringtone (because ringtone can only be heard in about a minute before a phone call being picked up or ignore) and/or you want to add it to a theme you made with Theme Studio.

You can also use another software like Nero Wave Editor to do this, if you already have Nero Burning Rom, it's a big chance you already have it, but it's not a free application, but it has also ability to burn CD or DVD (you can get this ability also from another freeware program, just search the net).

Free Mp3 Wma Converter, Music Converter Application

Free MP3 WMA Converter

Free Mp3 Wma Converter is a freeware PC application to convert your music file. It was made by Koyote Soft. Of course you can use PC Suite Music Manager to convert your music, but sometimes it failed to do the convertion process. Also this software has ability to add/edit music tag like title, album name, etc, but this software can't convert to m4a like Music Manager.

Well, for me, since m4a files can't add genre tag, I don't really like it, so I convert my music to aac with this software. If you want to use PC Suite Music Manager, you can combine it to Free Wma Converter. As you know (or you don't know), when you convert using PC Suite Music Manager, sometimes it failed to convert a music file, in that case you can use Free Mp3 Wma Converter to convert it first to wav file, then convert the converted file using PC Suite Music Manager (2 times convertion).

Of course, if you have another music converter application like Easy CD-DA Extractor by Poikosoft, you can use just the application to do the convertion of your music file (I mean without 2 times convertion like I do above). But it's not a freeware, and If you don't mind about that, you can use it, I've already tested it, it's a good software, and I'm still searching if there's a freeware application that has ability like this one. If you know one, let me know, ok!

Anvil Studio, Make/Edit Your Midi/Polyphonic Tones

Anvil Studio

Anvil Studio is a PC application to make or edit midi files (*.mid). It was made by Willow Software. I've already used this application since I've got my Nokia 3200. I'm not really good using it (until now), since I don't really good in music, and I don't really understand the complex of the application, so I was just using it to edit some polyphonic tones that was created by other people.

You know that some phones have specific channel limitation or there's some instrument that a phone can't play, so with this application, you can delete some channel from an original midi file that you have (because the sounds from that channel/instrument can be delete without any major change to your hearing) or change the instrument that couldn't play by your phone with the one that had almost similiar sounds that can. Of course, you must experiment by yourself to find what best to your phone.

Actually, the past version of Nokia PC Suite had the ability to make any midi files to compatible midi files to your phones, but they cut it down now, classic N-Gage also has built-in phone application to edit midi files. I know that many phones already have ability to play mp3 music now, but there's still some (and also new) that can't, so what the reason for Nokia to cut the ability from their new PC Suite? Ask Nokia! Anyway, if you still using the past Nokia PC Suite that has ability to convert a midi files, you can combine Anvil Studio with this, because sometimes when I was using the PC Suite conversion, the sounds of some channel still can't be played in my phones, in that case, edit it again with Anvil Studio.
