_PAlbTN Folder, Thumbnail Images Container in Nokia Symbian Phones

_PAlbTN Folder

If you're using file manager application like I used here for your Nokia Symbian Phones (because I don't know about another brand Symbian Phones, since I don't have one), you can see that in image folder in your phone, there is a folder named _PAlbTN. You must think, "What is this folder? I never create one of these".

Well, actually, it was made by your Symbian phone itself. Why? That's a folder that contain all the thumbnail that will be used by your built-in photo organizing application in your phone, so, there is all the thumbnail of all your picture in the parent folder contain. When you open your built-in photo organizing application in your phone, it will search for photos in your phone, then it will make the thumbnail to the _PAlbTN folder there, or if there is no _PAlbTN folder, it will make one.

Photo Loading

The _PAlbTN folder has hide attribute, so the picture that stay in that folder will not be searchable by your photo organizing application, and your built-in file manager can't see it. It is like Thumbs.db file in Windows XP. The function is for faster opening thumbnail of your photo application. If you delete it, you'll notice the slower of your photo organizing application to loading like in the right picture, because it will make the new _PAlbTN folder like you delete.

For the performance reason, you shouldn't delete it from your phone. When you delete some images from your phone, the thumbnail images for respective images will also be delete by your phone from the respective _PAlbTN folder. Next time, when you see it, you should know there's images in that folder and know about what makes it there.
